What does MOMS stand for?
Medicaid Obstetrical Maternal Service

Our Goal Is...
To help guide you to having a healthy baby throughout your pregnancy and delivery.

What is the MOMS program all about?

MOMS is a program for Medicaid eligible pregnant women who are seeking medical care.  This program provides pre- and postpartum nursing and education on pregnancy, nutrition, labor, delivery, baby care, infant growth and development, breastfeeding, exercise and other topics for new mothers and infants.  Also offered are pregnancy testing, HIV education and pre- and post-test counseling.

What does the MOMS program have to offer for me?
  • No cost pregnancy tests to confirm your pregnancy
  • Assistance with finding the right doctor for you and your baby
(MOMS works with most area doctors who deliver babies.)
  • Assistance in joining the WIC program
  • Assistance in determining Medicaid eligibility
  • Assistance in finding and signing up for specialized classes, such as Childbirth Classes
  • Answers to all of your questions with the support of a MOMS nurse

At the end of your appointment, you will:
  • Be assigned a MOMS nurse
  • Have WIC benefits with your first checks
  • Have Medicaid coverage (if you meet Medicaid eligibility guidelines)
  • Have a doctor/midwife appointment
  • All the information you will need to give yourself and your baby the best start possible
