| Environmental Health is a Division of the
Cayuga County Department of Health
and Human Services. This
Division oversees numerous
programs in order to protect the
public health of the residents of
Cayuga County. We regulate
public drinking water supplies, food
safety in restaurants, children's
camps, campgrounds, hotels and
motels, public bathing beaches and
swimming pools, and septic system
installation. This Division
also enforces regulations regarding
smoking and the sale of tobacco to
minors, operates a rabies control
program, which involves following up
on all animal bites, and works to
reduce lead hazards in the homes of
lead poisoned children.
In addition, this division
investigates public health
nuisances, and provides technical
information to the public on a wide
array of topics including West Nile
Virus, rabies, mold, radon, and
private wells. |
