This program’s goal is to prevent environmental illnesses related to food preparation and consumption by enforcement of Subpart 14-1, 14-2, 14-4, and 14-5 of the New York State Sanitary Code.

This program provides services in the following areas:
  • Issues permits to food service establishments in Cayuga County.
  • Performs inspections of food service facilities.
  • Provides plan review and approval for new or modified food service facilities.
  • Investigates food borne illness outbreaks.
  • Investigates food service facility complaints.
  • Provides public information and education concerning food safety issues.
  • Enforces the requirements of the New York State Sanitary Code.
  • Enforces the New York State Clean Indoor Air Act at food service facilities.
  • Answers questions from the public regarding food protection in the home.
