This program’s goal is to minimize potential health hazards from contamination of private wells.

 
This program provides services in the following areas:
  • Provides technical information to well owners.
  • Investigates complaints regarding potential contamination of private wells.
     

The New York State Department of Health has regulations regarding the installation of private wells.  These requirements can be found at Appendix 5-B Standard for Water Wells.  Questions regarding these requirements can be directed to the Cayuga County Health Department, Division of Environmental Health.

All well drillers in New York State must be registered with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.  Information regarding the registration requirements or to obtain a list of registered well drillers in Cayuga County or surrounding counties please click on the following link
