What is the
Community Report Card? |
|
The Community Report Card is a
short, simple document to inform the public about how
their community looks regarding its health and
well-being. The card itself is only one, two sided
page. To provide more information (explaining the
data and why certain topics were viewed the way they were),
a document called "Report Card Data" is available to
look at as well. It provides the actual data on
which the report card was based.

How is the Report Card put together and who is involved? |
|
Throughout 2005, intensive work
focused on developing a vision for this first card.
We identified key data to include, drafted the document,
tested it and finalized the first model to distribute to
the general public. In put into the design and the
final perspectives, reflected on the card, was the work
of department staff in partnership with staff of the
Human Services Coalition. A community planning
consultant guided and supported the project.

What real value does this data have now and in the
future? |
- It will increase everyone's awareness about their
community.
- It will be helpful for community planning and
problem solving.
- We will gain a better understanding of how the
public sees its community.
- We will learn where to target our health
education and awareness efforts.
- Grant writing in response to funding
opportunities will be supported by the card and its
data.
