Verne Morton Photos/Fountain HouseThe Fountain House, a hotel once located on the south-east corner of what are now Routes 90 and 38, was the point of origin of the fire that swept through the town on April 26, 1912. The conflagration began in the chimney visible in the photo and quickly burned the structure to the ground as well as many other buildings on the west side of the town. |
