Rehabilitation
The Cayuga County
Nursing Home Rehab Department goal is to provide residents
with the support to maximize their abilities during their
stay in the facility. In addition, we want to
rehabilitate and prepare short-term patients for their
transition to the next level of care or home.
We provide
Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies.
Therapists are available at least 5 days per week. Our
therapy room is equipped to provide treatments for most
conditions, stressing that the patient achieve the most
independence possible.
Physical Therapy is
available 5 days a week, with sessions lasting 30 to 40
minutes. Therapists emphasize walking and developing
strength to get out of bed and/or a chair. To assist
with these capabilities, therapists use parallel bars, exer-cycle,
and weights to achieve these goals as ordered by a
physician.
Occupational
Therapy is available 5 days a week, with session lasting 30
to 60 minutes. Therapists work on upper body strength
and everyday skills such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
Speech Therapy is
available on an as needed basis. Therapists provide
services for those who may have a speech deficit or the
individual is in need of an evaluation for a swallowing
problem. If a swallowing problem has been determined,
our facility has an agreement with the
Gavras
Center to provide a specialized type of therapy which
will help regain their ability to swallow liquids that may
have caused choking in the past. |
