Community Visioning Forum on Economic Development

Dear Community Economic Development Participant:

I'd like to sincerely thank you for attending and participating in our Community Economic Development Forum on July 29th. The enthusiasm, insight and ideas that filled the BOCES conference room that evening underscores perhaps the most valuable resource that we have - a community that can work together toward a common goal and a shared commitment to improving our quality of life.

We have taken the information collected and collated the ideas gathered into a Summary of Ideas. We have enclosed this list for your review and have also posted the summary on the web site dedicated to this initiative. The web site for the summary can be found at: http://co.cayuga.ny.us/economic development. Along with the summary, you will find the link to sign up to be placed on our economic development list serve. Please communicate to any community members that you feel may be interested as well in this initiative. We will continue to inform all interested parties through this list serve and the web site.

We have included on the web site a preliminary general breakdown of future group discussions. Please sign up for a group that you would be interested in: Health Services, Energy, Agriculture, Tourism, and the Engagement of Youth.

From the many ideas and perspectives shared on July 29th, the strongest themes to emerge from the breakout groups were a directive for improved communication and coordination between our economic development efforts and a strong call to action to address economic development now. I strongly agree with both of these points and stand ready to work with the legislature, the private sector, and all of our economic development partners to move forward.
