Court of Oyer & Terminer    1684 - 1895


Jurisdiction in criminal matter replacing Court of Assize;

1691 - becomes the criminal circuit part of the Supreme Court of the Judicature;

1822 - jurisdiction to call grand juries to investigate all crimes and misdemeanors in the county;

To try indictments found by grand jury & court of general sessions & to deliver the jail of the prisoners who had been taken into custody on criminal charges;

As a supreme court part could send writs into another county;

Abolished 1896 absorbed by Supreme Court - Criminal Part.
