This regular meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by Supervisor Chuck Howell with the following present:

                        Town Officials:              Jim Baier, Judith Rowlands, Randy Lawrence

                        Guests:             Patricia White, Robb Jetty, County Legislator George Fearon                                                                        

                        Absent:                         Gary Whitten

 

MOTION:                   To accept the minutes of the April 12, 2006 meeting as written.  (Goodnough/Buckhout).  All in favor.

 

GUESTS: Supervisor Howell welcomed the guests.  Pat White presented information about structural

repair and restoration needed on the Howland Stone Store Museum, and requested a letter of support

from the Board to include with the Museum’s application for a “Network to Freedom” grant.  The

Museum is located in the hamlet of Sherwood which has been officially designated as one of 

“Seven to Save” historic sites in New York State.  Anyone interested is invited to a meeting May 21st

at 7:30 pm at the Scipioville Presbyterian Church regarding the economic impact of historic district

designation.   All are invited to come and visit the Museum.  Scipio Town Planning Board member

Randy Lawrence reported that the Planning Board was in favor of the town writing a letter of support.

 

MOTION:                   That the Town of Scipio write a letter supporting the Howland Stone Store Museum’s grant application. (Goodnough/Rury).  All in favor.

 

Robb Jetty expressed appreciation to the Town Board and Planning Board for their help in making it

possible for him to erect a residential wind turbine.  It is producing more than enough power for his

needs.

 

George Fearon reported that a state law is under consideration to reduce tax on gasoline.  There was

discussion regarding the need to see the bigger picture.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:

c.            Empire State Model “Logging Ordinance” – referred to Planning Board

OLD BUSINESS:   Reminder: Town Clean-Up Day is May 13, 2006 from 10 to 4.  Rabies Clinic is

May 27 from 1 to 3. After a brief discussion about a possible extended warranty for the loader, it was decided to discuss this with the Highway Superintendent at the June meeting. 

NEW BUSINESS:  An audit of the Supervisor’s, Clerk’s, and Justices books will take place at 7:00 pm

prior to the regular June 14th meeting.

 

MOTION:                   To sign the Dog Control Contract for 2006 with Carl Collier.  (Buckhout/Rury).  All in favor.

 

MOTION:                   To approve the Supervisor’s Monthly Reports for March 2006.

                                    (Goodnough/Rury).  All in favor.

 

MOTION:                               To accept and approve the following vouchers for payment:         

                                    General:   Vouchers #   69-84   $  4,317.23

                                    Highway:  Vouchers #  21-24              $      799.49

                                    TOTAL                                               $   5,116.72 

                                    (Goodnough/Rury).  All in favor.

 

MOTION:            To adjourn the meeting at 8:29 pm. (Goodnough/Buckhout).  All in favor. 

 

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday June 14, 2006 at 7:30 pm, preceded by

audit of the books at 7:00 pm.
