This regular meeting was called to order at 7:50 pm, with the following

MOTION: To accept the minutes of the July 11, 2007 Public Hearing and
regular meeting as written. (Buckhout/Goodnough). All in favor.
GUESTS:
Town Historian Sandie Gilliland presented the Town with the book “Moravia and Its Past”, compliments of the Cayuga-Owasco Lakes Historical Society.
Tanya from the NY Preservation League introduced Historic Cemetery Conservator C.R. Jones, who briefly reviewed the information he had shared at the Sherwood Cemetery walk-through prior to the meeting. Tanya then presented the Town with Mr. Jones’ written report, and presented a second copy of the report to Mark Vorreuter representing the Howland Stone Store Museum. Thanks was expressed to Mr. Jones for his report and presentation.

HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT:
Ron Walter reported that paving and repairing roads
continues. The road repair budget needs
to be increased. There was a brief
discussion regarding drilling of natural gas wells and its impact on town roads
and rights-of-way.
OLD BUSINESS:
There was a brief discussion about the Instant Aid Ambulance Service. It was suggested to put a request for more volunteers for the Ambulance Service in the Fall Town Newsletter. The Newsletter Committee will check with Ambulance Director Kezia Parseghian.
There was a brief discussion regarding filling the Assessor position when the current term ends September 30, 2007. Appointment will be made at the September 12th Town Board meeting.
Septic Inspection is due. Phil Buckhout had offered to take care of this.
Reminder: Planning Board meeting next Wednesday at 7 pm with presentation by NYS Environmental Planner Kristy LaManche regarding a Comprehensive Plan for the Town of Scipio. The public is welcome to attend.
NEW BUSINESS:
MOTION: To schedule Clean Up Day for Saturday October 6th from 10 to 4.
(Howell/Goodnough). All in favor.
Doc Underwood will have a Rabies Clinic at the Town Highway Garage Saturday October 13th
from 1 to 3. Suggested donation: $5.00 per animal.
RESOLUTION: To transfer $191,000.00 to Highway as per budget, and
to increase Highway budget lines for road work DA5110.4 by $20,000.00
(Howell/Whitten). All in favor.
Budget estimate forms for the 2008 Budget were distributed. Deadline for return is September 12, 2007.
MOTION: To accept the Supervisor’s reports for June 2007. (Goodnough/Rury).
All in favor.
There was a brief discussion regarding the Sherwood Cemetery Evaluation Report. Supervisor Howell
will get estimates on taking down the trees that Mr. Jones recommended be removed. Clerk Judith
Rowlands will contact Mark Vorreuter for input in the fall newsletter.
MOTION: To accept and approve the following vouchers for payment:
General: Vouchers # 121-133 $ 2,410.56
Highway: Vouchers # 50-56 $ 32,982.33
TOTAL $ 35,392.89
