This regular meeting was called to order at 7:01 pm by Supervisor Keith Batman, who welcomed those present:

Supervisor Batman welcomed the guests. Goodwin Smith distributed business cards to the board.  He represents “Competitive Power Ventures” and is talking to landowners in the area regarding wind power.

 

MOTION:                   To accept the minutes of the August 13, 2008 regular meeting

as written. (Goodnough/Rury).  All in favor.

 

Supervisor Report:

Wind Power: There is continuing discussion between Shell Wind Energy and the Allens.

Broadband Initiative: The committee met with members of the Genoa committee and are compiling

a survey to distribute on the Clean-up Day, and make available to be picked up at the Town Office.  

 

Highway Superintendent Report:  Ron reported on cost of gravel, stone, oil, etc.  The solar light on the flag is not effective because it is deactivated by the outside flood light.

 

Town Clerk Report: Newsletter deadline is today.  Rabies Clinic has been scheduled for Sat. Nov. 1 from 1 to 3 pm.

 

Comprehensive Plan Report:  No recent activity, but they expect to start having meetings again soon.

 

Elected Official Report:  County Legislator George Fearon distributed detailed sales tax revenue report, showing comparison of 2007 and 2008 information.  He expressed appreciation for the town’s support of the Howland property project.  The Howland Stone Store Museum holds title of the two Isabel Howland properties in Sherwood as of September 2nd.

 

RESOLUTION:        To approve the Supervisor’s reports for July 2008.  (Goodnough/Rury).

                                    All in favor.

 

Old Business: Gary Goodnough gave a report on the problems with Casella Disposal’s service.  He shared some information about other options.  Keith offered to gather some more information about different disposal companies.  It is recommended that milk jugs and cans be compressed before depositing them in the recycling bin, to conserve space. It was agreed to revisit the situation next regular meeting.

 

MOTION:                   To go into Executive Session at 7:30 pm to discuss personnel matters.

MOTION:                   To come out of Executive Session at 8:10 pm.

                                    Malys/Rury).  All in favor.

 

 

 

 

 

 

RESOLUTION:        To transfer $1500.00 from A1990.4 Contingent Account

                                    To A1620.4 Building Contractual.  (Malys/Goodnough).  All in favor.

 

 

MOTION:                               To accept and approve the following vouchers for payment:         

                                                General:   Vouchers # 123-138    11,778.76

                                                Highway:  Vouchers #  50-51                         822.60
