- Plant Characteristics
- Lance-shaped leaves arranged in whorls around the stem.
- 4 to 6 leaves per whorl
- Whorls of leaves are typically closer together or denser than those of the American elodea
- Leaves feel smooth
- Small serrations along the leaf margin are difficult to see with the naked eye
- Can be found in both still and flowing waters of lakes, ponds, small streams and ditches
