  • Plant Characteristics

    • Lance-shaped leaves arranged in whorls around the stem.

    • 4 to 6 leaves per whorl

    • Whorls of leaves are typically closer together or denser than those of the American elodea

    • Leaves feel smooth

    • Small serrations along the leaf margin are difficult to see with the naked eye

    • Can be found in both still and flowing waters of lakes, ponds, small streams and ditches
